FOOT INJURIES CAUSED BY AUTO ACCIDENTS

Car Upside down It is the wrongdoer’s responsibility to right the wrongs that they caused. It is not society’s or the victim’s problem, it is the wrongdoer’s problem. They caused the harm, they must correct the harm. If someone negligently causes harm to someone or damage to someone’s property, they are required to right the wrongs they caused.

The following types of foot injuries are caused by trauma, including the trauma of an auto accident:

Bruises (contusions). Bruising may also occur due to gravity, and may spread to your toes if you have an ankle injury.

Puncture wounds. Puncture wounds can sometimes be caused in auto accidents by debris from the accident. They can be caused by sharp objects such as nails, tacks, ice picks, knives, teeth, and needles. Puncture wounds increase your risk of infection because they are difficult to clean and provide a warm, moist environment for bacteria to grow. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a common cause of infection when a puncture wound occurs through the sole of an athletic shoe.

Injuries to ligaments that support your joints. The foot and ankle work together to provide balance, support, and mobility to the body, with 26 bones, 33 joints, and over 100 muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Any of these bones or soft tissues can be injured, resulting in pain and inflammation, as well as difficulty walking and bearing weight on the foot.

Strains, sprains, and fractures are the most common foot and ankle injuries, affecting over one million people in the United States each year. Ankle and foot trauma are common during sports or recreational activities, but they can also happen while walking or doing normal activities at work or at home.

Strains, stretches, or tears in the muscles or tendons are commonly caused by a sudden twist or pull. Sprains are similar to stretches or tears in that they affect the ligaments and are usually caused by a fall or trauma to the ankle or foot.

Bone fractures, or breaks, are commonly caused by slips and falls, but they can also be caused by a direct impact to the foot or ankle, such as in an automobile accident.

Tendon injuries, such as ruptured tendons in your heel (Achilles tendon). What Is the Achilles Tendon, Exactly? A tendon is a band of tissue that connects a muscle to a bone. The Achilles tendon runs down the back of the lower leg, connecting the calf muscle to the heel bone. By lifting the heel off the ground, the Achilles tendon, also known as the heel cord, assists in walking.

A ruptured Achilles tendon is a complete or partial tear caused by stretching the tendon beyond its capacity. Forceful jumping or pivoting, as well as sudden running accelerations, can cause the tendon to overstretch and tear. Tripping or falling can also result in a tendon injury.

Injuries to your joints (sprains). If the injury does not appear to be healing, it is possible that you have a condition known as osteochondritis dissecans, which causes the injury to remain.

Pulled muscles (strains). A strain on the muscles of the foot and ankle could result in an injury, or it could rupture the muscles.

Broken bones or fractures, such as a broken toe or a broken bone in the foot can be caused by the trauma of an auto accident.

A bone moving out of place known as a dislocation can be caused by auto accident trauma.

Compartment syndrome can occur as a result of a crushing injury. Compartment syndrome is a condition in which bleeding or edema develops in an area of the body that is surrounded by non-expandable bone and fascia structures, increasing local pressure and causing circulatory disturbance in that space. If not properly diagnosed, this can lead to ischaemia and necrosis.

The cause is usually as a result of an acute trauma. Fasciotomy is usually performed, but nonsurgical treatment is also an option.

Doug is a great attorney. He took care of my auto accident claim promptly, and answered any questions I had. I also had one of my hospital bills go into collections for non-payment. I was able to contact Doug a year after the accident, and received a copy of the check the hospital claimed they didn’t receive. I highly recommend this guy. David J.

Mr. Goyen helped me take on my own insurance company, the great and mighty Allstate. My prior firm basically dumped me, with a permanent injury because the case didn’t meet their financial guidelines for a settlement. I was a bicycle rider hit by a car driver at an intersection, and Allstate was the company on BOTH SIDES OF THE CLAIM. My own insurance company tried to throw me under the bus to limit their payout! Without Mr. Goyen’s help, I would have been left with NOTHING! I had thousands of dollars in unpaid medical bills, unable to receive treatment to correct the issue. He was unafraid and helped me get the best settlement I could … I am tremendously thankful! Pamala M.
